It is much to warm to be December!  The temperature here has been nearly 70* the last few days.  Beautiful outside, I spent some time sitting out on our beautiful front porch reading a book this afternoon.

 

I have been steadily working on making more Christmas gifts, Chad and I put our tree up a few days ago.  Here I was in the basement when I heard an odd noise followed by a “MOM COME QUICK”.  Our tree had fallen.  Chad had caught it but it required us to use some bricks from our garden to steady up the tree’s base.  It was such a pain.  We had to remove the lights and start basically from scratch.  I am still not wild about the tree’s appearance, but until my patience is built back up it will have to slightly lean for now.

 

I have seen many trends for odd colors this Christmas season, the copper and black are a very elegant paring.  I had a really nice time creating this ornament.  Once again I used the Stampin up dies and I had black and copper card stock in my collection.  These are super easy to make, in my opinion you wait longer for glue to set up than just about anything else.

I will keep this post short, over the last few days I have labored over a Christmas angel that was gifted to me 12 years ago by my step-daughter Amanda.  This  beautiful angel has seen more than her fair share of wear-and-tare, she was due for a make over.

Her basic construction is actually a small tomato cage turned upside down.  She is made from corn-husk. Originally the base with the wreath had twinkle lights.  I had already removed the old ribbon,lace,and flowers from the angel in the first pictures.

I wanted to document the process so if any of you are taking on a similar challenge you can see a bit of what I did.

 

I used both Aleen’s Fabric Fusion adhesive and hot glue.  The fabric fusion allows the project to be permanent.  The hot glue just keeps everything in place while it dries.  I chose to use yellow headed push pins for this project so I wouldn’t loose them when it was time to take them out.  It also made it easier to spot them on the rare occasion I dropped one onto the floor.

  As we enter the Holiday season and the soon day of celebration for the birth of the world’s Savior Jesus, I hope we will not only reflect on this day of Thanksgiving, but of how each of us can go and be a blessing to some one else.

 

  Today’s post is a Stampin Up which I purchased from my friend Marisol, is generally the company representative that I order from.

 

  A few substitutions to the original ornament featured in the Stampin Ups Christmas catalog, I used lace instead of tool, most of the pieces are attached with both strong amazing E6000 glue.  I also used some spray adhesive on each section of the ornament as I was building it to apply some extra fine tulip glitter.

 

   I am very proud of how this ornament came out, it took several hours to stamp and cut the pieces out,  my efforts where worth the price.

Happy Thanksgiving

 

 

 

Hello my craft friends!

 

  I hope that each of you are reflecting on the events of this last year and finding in them many things to be Thankful for.  It has been a very difficult nearly 18 months in my life.

 

  I had an  upper endoscopy about a week ago to remove some more stomach polyps.  I have a stomach condition that may warrant this procedure being done once a year.

  When I was reviewing my medical history with the Doctor, he asked me about my life.  Have you ever tried to put things in perspective and keep it short? I nut shelled it alright, next thing I knew I had been telling him my story.

  “You’re under stress”, he stated.  I thought but dared not say out loud “you got that right”.  It started in July of 2011 when our home was raided by the Department of Homeland Security,ICE and a full blown SWAT team. 

  I also found my birth family last year, a different kind of stressor.

 

  The reason was my oldest son had been looking at child pornography while he had visited our home back during Mother’s day.

  Fast forward to this last May and the Thursday before Mother’s day was the last time I would see Craig as a free man.  He will face sentencing on November 30.

  There are many other “bad” things that have happened as a result of his decision, and there have been other circumstances affecting my life.  I still find joy. 

  I have and am still learning that I praise and serve a living God that is so much bigger than my circumstances, I find myself praising him for the grace to walk through my circumstances.  Head held high. 

 

  I am thankful for good Physicians and successful medications.  My mind and brain are just as important as my heart or other organs. 

  I am also thankful for the wise counsel of my Godly husband.   He has been there supporting, encouraging and praying for me and over me, it has not been easy on him I know. 

 

  The Lord has given him a loving and kind heart for me, and for that gift I am also grateful.

  With this said my friends and family or just my crafty blog and you tube followers, please when you are sitting down to enjoy the Thanksgiving  meal.  Say not only a prayer of thanks, but prayers of continued graciousness given by a loving Heavenly Father.

These super cute mini holiday planners are simple to make, and easily mass produced.

 

Card stock:

 

1 Piece that is 5 3/8′ X 11″ 

score each of the long sides at 3 3/8″ and 3 5/8″

 

Patterned paper

 

For the  3 flaps

 

1 piece that 5 1/4″ X 3 1/4″

1 piece that is 5″ X 3″

 

For the back

1 piece that is 3 1/2″ X 5 1/4″

1 piece that is 3 1/4″ X5″

(If desired you may sponge the edges of the patterned paper.)

 

 

Other materials

Snowflake punch

Instructions

 

Layer patterned papers onto panels as shown.  To create the labels print out the desired sentiments onto good quality white card stock, cut or punch out with the spellbinder dies or oval punch.

The pockets measure 3 1/4 X 2″ and the edge is made by using a deckle edge scissor.  These pockets are held in place by dimensional dots.  For  each of the small note pads, you will need two pieces of copy paper cut into 2 1/2″ X 8″ strips. 

 

Cover the junior legal pad with matching patterned paper.  B, using a craft knife, cut a small slit for the ribbon to feed through before placing down the note pad. 

 

Cover the top of the junior pad with matching paper.  Adhere to the inside middle of the planner.
