HAPPY 2011 NEW YEAR!
Today’s post is Lara The Lady bug, brought to you today by Digital Delights Stamps!
Head on over to the store, there are many digital stamps at very low prices for you to enjoy!
I printed the image off onto heavy weight cardstock. It was printed out 9 times. She is Colored with copic Markers, R32,C1,R05, and I think R27.
Since I needed to keep with the Red and White color sceme, I tried to keep the Reds and whites bright and well coordinaed. The trim and lace ribbon are from my stach. I am learning to make stick pins, and this card shows one of my first attemps. To get the color red on the glass bead, I used one of the small zip top bags that are used in jewelry making and put about 10 beads in the bag, I then used my Copic Marker re-inker .
Next, I sealed up the bag and let the beads sit in the ink for about 3 minutes, being careful to roll them around in the ink so they were well saturated. I carefully extrated them onto a paper towel using a pair of craft tweezers. If you try this technique and get ink on your hands, try using a magic eraser, wash your hands with it under warm water with a dab of dish soap and most of the ink will come off.
For the layers, the lighter of the red paper measures 5 1/4″ X 2″, the bright red paper is 2 1/2″ X 3 1/2″, I rounded wo of the corners, and used baby rick rac on one side. To save time and make the process of putting the cards together, I laide the pieces out in rows to make the process a little bit quicker.
To attach the stick pin to the card, I used E6000 glue and held the piece down with a clothes pin until it was set. That took about 20 mintes, once the clothes pin was removed, I allowed the pieces to dry over night. The antena are made by using a bit of black hemp and the small hearts are the ones that are part of the stamp. Each image was ” fussy” cut out using a short sharp pair of scissors.
I hope you will give making the stick pins a try. There are many video tutorials for them on youtube. I also hope you will join me on Your Paper pantry or My Scrap Room. Both sites are very fun and offer both creative outlets as well as wonderful project ideas and swaps.
I look forward to sharing more projects and ideas with you this year. Stamp Happy!
