Stunning Paper Christmas Ornament

It’s official. Christmas season is upon us in full grandeur and fun. It has gotten considerably colder here in Maryland and I am so excited to be able to make a few projects before my surgery on December 18.

I won’t be making very many hand made Christmas gifts this year because of time restrictions.

This paper ornament took me a record 6 hours to complete. There are a few added details that the standard Stampin Up ornament does not have.

The biggest differences are the color. Instead of stamping each piece of the ornament, I die cut them from sweet tooth and black licorice card stock. They can be purchased at My favorite things stamp company. Instead of using tulle I used lace from my collection.

After the black and white card stocks were cut, I ran them through two different embossing folders before scoring and assembling. I used my quickie two way glue pen around the edges of each piece and used “Bridal” glitter from Sparkle N sprinkle.

The pink wheat like accents are from my stash. The ornament center is finished with a piece of lace I made into a rosette and finished with a small metal flower and shrink plastic butterfly.

The hanger for the ornament is made from a piece of off white cording. The back center is finished off to hide the hanger assembly and allow me a place to take credit for my work.

I am very proud of the way the project turned out. I hope to get it postal in the next couple of days.

Christmas Mini using Accucut Die for my Chemo Buddy –video slide show

Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

I hope if you had the desire to go shopping today that you have made it home, safe sound and with all of your hair still in tact! (ha)

It has been a busy day here. I spent a majority of the day finishing up the mini album I made for my female chemo buddy “T”. She has actually sent me several letters and I enjoy hearing from her. It is not a usual occurrence to hear from your buddy.

Many of you may already know (if you follow me on facebook) that I will be out of the loop several weeks in Dec-Jan. I have to have my surgery re-done. I am not looking forward to this event, however I know that when it is all finished I will be feeling better once again!

The Joy of Butterflies

It comes as no surprise to many of you that one of my favorite things is an insect. Butterflies, and lot’s of them. I was completely out of shrink plastic butterflies, so today I sat out on a mission of winged friend making.

I used at least six different Butterfly stamps for this project. All are stamped using Staz on Jet Black ink and stamped onto one side of the shrinky dink plastic, then flipped over and colored on the opposite side. Failure to do this will ruin the copic markers.

I think I spent a good five hours or so making all these butterflies, I also made some flowers, owls and some “dream” sentiments. My small jar of shrink plastic goodies is once again starting to fill up. My hands got tired from the cutting of the pieces so I had to call it quits a little over half an hour ago.

We celebrated the life of a dear friend on Friday. My “aunt” Joyce passed from here onto Glory and Is happily sitting with Jesus. I praise the Lord for the influence of this wonderful woman in my life, she was loved and will be dearly missed.

With the weather quickly changing from fall into winter, the cooler temperature’s and the quickly falling leaves have left in their wake a grateful girl.

I am grateful for my family, my faith and all of you.

I am participating in an online swap at LSH and I made these gift cards for my partner, They are roughly 5 1/8″ X 3 1/3″. All cut from corrugated box lids. I used my retired sizzix dies for this. The super crescent, super traditional and super scallop.

I also used some shrink plastic and some of the smaller dies. Dies are from sizzix, and The stamps of Life. I hope you’ll get inspired to make some fun Christmas tags for your gifts!

Santa’s Stuck a 3-D May May Made it re-do (kinda)

In this video tutorial I will show you how to build a 3D chimney for Santa. I still used the small tea lights to give the illusion of a fire burning.

To place Santa into the chimney I had to cut part of the top of the legs off, Leaving the bottom and boots. Since this is a little bigger than the last version I made, I had to use care when placing it inside the snow globe.

I used both E6000 as well as hot glue (which just holds things in place until the E6000 dries). Every thing else is pretty much the same as the the first version
