Hello Friends,
This is a picture of my husband, Michael with Alice. Alice is eight months old and just a sweet baby. You just can’t go wrong when you speak sweet nothings into her ear. By the way she’s been promised a pony, pretty dresses and unlimited shopping time.
She adored her Grandpa’s whiskers. I was able to get some belly kiss’ in. We also really enjoyed watching little Max.
Mike found the rocking horse (complete with horse sounds) at a local thrift shop for $5.00. Since he was working a few hours away from San Diego, he simply checked the horse with his luggage. Thank you Southwest Airlines. Lucky for us they allow 2 items to be checked. Otherwise this great buy would have been nearly $90.00 to ship.
The antics of a three year old little boy are vast. I’m still of the opinion that we should come up with a way to harness the power and energy generated by toddlers! Always busy. He certainly enjoyed running around and being loud.
The joys of being a grandparent are vast. I certainly enjoyed the kiddos!
While we were in the area, we visited El Cajon, CA, and the Taylor guitar factory. The tour is free and Mike and I really enjoyed the tour. The tour lasts around an hour and a half and there is a lot of walking. Hopefully I will be able to post some pictures son.
Of course when in San Diego, I recommend three Stamp Stores, The Stamp Addict, which is in San Diego. This small shop is filled with awesome treasures. For local folks, they offer class’ ranging from Stamping and Scrap booking to Mixed Media. When I last visited the store back in January, the shop was a little dis-jointed and did not have as much inventory. This time, under new ownership and management, the store seemed not only brighter but much better organized.
The second store was Stamp Delights. This is a really fun store. Debbie has owned the store for around 18-20 years. The location is quirky, however very easily found. She is both knowledgeable and so much fun to chat with. There are many hidden treasures and display pieces. The stamps that have coordinating die sets are actually clipped together making the process very easy. I helped elevate some of her Lawn Fawn inventory. Of the three stores I visited this was my favorite. This was indicated by my monetary vote.
The last store I visited was Of the Heart in Lemon Grove, CA. This store is in a strip mall. Folks it is not located in the best of locations. The store is getting ready to merge with another local store that sales more generalized craft items, such as beads. The owner is a bit standoffish. She does have plenty of samples and a great inventory. However, the store was very warm. I know it is still September and generally speaking California is warm anyway. However, a better A/C situation would have been welcomed.
This store had a decent selection. The main problem was there were many samples that she had displayed and did not have the stamps or materials to make the cards in stock. I would have purchased several more stamps had they been available for purchase.
More pictures of our adventure will be forth coming. Video’s of projects I will be making can be found on my YouTube channel.
