Hello my friends!

The road to an space that is no longer hoarded or is chronically disorganized is to just start.  The question is where do I start and how?  I do want to make a quick notation here that I am doing this entire room while my spousal unit is traveling for work as to not upset our normal routine.  No worries the remainder of our house is in good order.

First things first.  Start by grabbing a few garbage bags. It doesn’t matter where you start, it only matters that you do.  I began this mission three days ago by simply starting to remove trash.  In a craft room, much like many other craft rooms it had become crap.

I removed a majority of rubbish that was broken items, a bag of dead pens and removed many items from their original packaging.  Once this was done I began (one of three trips) to purchase some inexpensive organizing bins.  Thanks to Walmart and the dollar tree.  Both of which are within 5 miles of my home.

I am a ladybug it is who I am.  I own it.  I am more likely to shove something into a box, or bag or closet, drawer (you get the idea) than I am to actually put it away.  What, you ask is a ladybug?  To answer that question I suggest you take the quiz for yourself by watching the Clutterbug’s YouTube video by clicking here.

Here are some pictures from today’s expedition.  I started on November 5,2019 around 7:45 AM and it is now 9:45 PM.  Now the space is looking better.  My 12″ X 12″ iris storage drawers are even cleaned out and using those dollar store and Walmart bins are much neater.  Now to develop better habits.

There are gremlins present with word-press. In lieu of photos here is a slide show of the progress today.  This is a website exclusive.

Hello my unorganized fellow hoarding crafter’s!

Hello everyone!  Apologies for the sideways pictures.  I have tried several times to flip these images with no success. **Updated on 11/6** here is a video slideshow (website exclusive and pictures are not in order)

I heard the collective groan as you viewed those pictures.  Not to worry it is actually not as bad as it looks, its’ worse…

Here’s the real deal.  Packaging takes up space.  I’ve thrown away about 5 contractor bags stuffed with packaging, broken pieces, and trash.  The dust bunnies had multiplied to monumental proportions and needed to be eradicated.

The inside of my 12 X 12 storage drawers are getting organized with bins from both dollar tree and Walmart.  Progress is slow, and it is steady.  With many upcoming events This room has to be holiday creating ready.  No more procrastination.  Once the floor is clear and trash is removed I will be bringing in a 6′ folding table to begin the sorting of my stamps and dies.  Frankly I am tired of trying to find a specific theme of stamps or sentiments.

I’ve purchased my storage pockets, I have my label maker, label tape and extra batteries.  Let’s do this. Once and for all.  It is the start I need.  The room I will be proud of.

For a similar lamination machine to the one I used, I suggest the one from Scotch as well, it is reasonably priced and is a work horse in my craft room.  Click here to purchase. 

Before beginning, be sure to measure your covers.  Measure the actual size of the paper and the size of the cover including the lamination.  Cut your paper down to size.  I used the Cutterpillar Crop.  To purchase one for yourself click here.

Once your covers are cut, put them into the laminating pouches and put them through the machine following the manufacture directions.  I send mine through several times to be sure the materials are completely sealed.

This does not take long.  Cut a scrap of paper and measure to the size of your covers.  Using your happy planner punch , do a test punch and fitting before punching the covers and/or dashboards.  Make sure you have the covers in the correct orientation before punching so that your covers are right side up and the correct view is facing outwards.

Supplies

Stamps: Honey Doo Crafts and Your Next Stamp

Ink: Memento tuxedo black and Versa Mark

Misti

Anti Static bag

Heat tool

Detail black embossing powder

Alcohol markers (I used Copic and Masters Touch)

Prep card stock with an anti-static bag.  Using your Memento tuxedo black ink (or other Copic compatible ink) stamp the image onto your card stock.

Leave the image inside of the Misti and color with your choice of alcohol ink markers.

Once the coloring is complete, go over the surface once again with an anti static bag.  Ink up the stamp with Versa Mark ink and stamp it over the image.  This “over stamping” will allow the embossing powder to be seamless with the existing stamped image. 

Once the image is stamped remove from the Misti.  I used detail black embossing powder for this.  Once you have the images coated, melt with your heat tool. Be sure to tilt your image in several directions to assure all of the powder has melted.

Attach the panel to your card.  A very simple and elegant project that I hope you will give a try.
