Welcome to today’s installment of Craft Hoarding, episode 9.  Jan 16, 2020

Happy New Year!

I hope you are all doing well and the New Year is encouraging you to happiness.  My one little word for this year is SERVICE.  I gave up on “resolutions” years ago.  They simply don’t last or in most cases, life gets in the way.  I am the president of Cove Crafters a division of Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.  Most of my personal service to the community is given to this organization.  My personal mission of serving the Lord by serving others.

.  If you follow my blog or YouTube, you will note that I by nature am a “Lady bug”.  I really enjoy the organizational style and explanations brought fourth by Cassandra Aarson of Clutterbug. <-Click<.

I highly recommend taking her challenge.  You will learn much about yourself, how it is your brain works and even if you are only disorganized in one area of your home or life, this website will help resolve many issues.

Hello Die by Lawn Fawn

Vodka (Local liquor store)

Distilled water (if desired)

Amber glass spray bottle

Valentine stamp (Mft stamps/retired)

Lavender essential oil

Shrinky dinks

To make the spray, pour 1 part Vodka and 1 part water (or only use the Vodka) into the bottle, add 30-40 drops of essential oil.  Mix thoroughly and let sit for at least 15 minutes. Smell to see if the concentration of the essential oil is to your liking, if it isn’t add more. Let it sit another 15 minutes and repeat the process until your mixture is to your satisfaction.

Print labels and apply them to the bottles, I had to resize mine to fit my use, and I also used a 2″ paper punch to punch them out.

Die cut or use your electronic cutter to cut two circles the scalloped one measures 1.75″ and the whine one measures 1.50″.

Die cut the hello from shrink plastic, color with a copic marker and shrink following manufacture instructions.  Once this is cool, use some glue  on the back.  Stamp Valentine sentiment as far down on the white heart as you are able, then place the hello above and use a clip (I used an ordinary clothes clip).  Layer the two pieces together and use a pop dot between the layers.

Apply the twin to the back of the heart and attach it to the bottle using glue dots.  I added a decorative red and white ribbon to finish my project.  These will be packaged in cello bags with a ribbon closure and given to some crafty friends.

Basic Measurements:

6″ X 6″ score all four sides at 2″

4″ X 4″ score all sides at 1″

1 7/8 ” X 5 1/2″ score at 1 7/8″,2 3/8″,4 1/2″, and 4 3/4″

Layering pieces

Solid Card stock 1 7/8″ square

Patterned paper 1 3/4″ square

Instructions:

Start with the box bottom, cut away the outside 4 square so that the base somewhat resembles a “T” shape.  Corner round these pieces and the solid and patterned papers you will be using will need rounding at the top edge.  It is personal preference to do both the inside and outside of the box bottom when it comes to decoration.  As you see in the video, I took the few extra minutes to pay attention to this detail.

For the top, cut from the outside to the inner side of the lid, making slight indentations which will allow the top to fold more easily.

Score and use a circle punch or die on the 1 7/8″ X 5 1/2″ piece of card stock.  Fold and glue together then attach to the inside of the box.  You may choose to use some glue dots to assure your lip gloss will stay in place.

I stamped and using my Brother Scan and cut dx cut out all of  my stamped images.  I then arranged them in a pleasing manner on the outside of the box being careful to avoid gluing the flaps together.  The box was finished off with a fun sticker from my collection.

Its been a while since I updated the state of my craft hoard.  Its horrible.  I hope it would be better it is not, it is worse.

You know that eerie music that plays in horror movies, you can almost hear that in this space.  At last it won’t last forever.  I have decided to have some (brave) souls come in and help me at least get the stamps and dies back in a reasonable order.

This all takes time, well spent and a determination to stop bad habits and replace them with good ones.
