Not a Recipie box, box swap from MSR — Video slide show!

This one was horrible to try and get the slide show ready for here on the blog and You tube.

I received this wonderful box from Erin from My Scrap Room. I love doing these one on one swaps. The box she made me is just so perfect, love the greens and pinks she used, the bling is also so very nice!

Erin was such a fun partner to have for the swap, and she has very beautiful handwriting.

I hope you guys have a great day, tomorrow will be a zoo again in our neighborhood. The funeral for the officer killed on Saturday is tomorrow which means the neighborhood will be a hot mess.

Today for the viewing there where at least 30 or more cop motorcycles, not to mention uniform and plain clothed officers.

On the home front the materials for our new fence should arrive sometime today, I am looking forward to being able to let the dogs play in the back yard with no fear of them getting loose or running into the street!

Maigan Lynn — Queen Kat on Tuesday! Shrink Plastic charm!

Hello friends!

It is time to think outside the “card” for today’s fun project. If you follow my personal blog, You know that I have been on a shrink plastic binge for a while now.

I love the stuff. I stamped the unicorn from Maigan Lynn stamp design sold by Queen Kat. I stamped the unicorn onto the slick side of the shrink plastic using staz on ink, I flipped the piece over and colored with my copic markers.

Then I followed the manufacturer’s instructions and shrank the piece. To make sure it was clear, I heated the piece until all the dull color was gone and the charm was translucent. Before shrinking I did punch a hole toward the top so I could hang it onto the bracelet. I hope you will enjoy this slide show of the Queen Kat stamp projects and a gift for my Husband!

I strung beads from my collection and added the charm. I thought this piece was just adorable. I will be sending this as a surprise for my niece, Melissa.

Quote book instructions

Hi Everyone!

I get many request on how I make these simple yet fun quote/mini books. They are so super simple!

I use a retired Sizzix die, Super Scallop. Then I cut the tags out of medium weight coasters, if you don’t have coasters, medium weight chipboard works great.

Sources of chipboard you may not think of include, cereal boxes, soda boxes, juice boxes., etc. It is a great way to pay it forward.

Then I choose my stamps, most of these are from Fiskars, Inkadinkadoo and My Favorite things. I choose the sentiments to match the mood or theme of the book.

OK, before I forget, I cut out all the patterned paper and acetate from the same die so all I need to do is glue and go.

The acetate I use is actually the plastic from the sizzix dies when I receive them, I cut them up into manageable pieces and send them right through the die cutter.

Cover, sand and sponge all the pages, then get to stamping. I use memento tuxedo black ink and copic markers for the coloring.

Many of the images are the pure innocence from My Favorite things. Generally I do all of the cutting at once, so if I want to die cut shapes for behind my focal image or sentiment I do it at this time.

For the mini flowers, I used a flower from inkadinkado (it is the set that has flowers and bugs on it) and I stamp the flower on the rough side of shrink plastic. Cut it out with sharp scissors and make sure to separate each petal. Of course you would color on the rough side of the plastic first then shrink following manufacturer’s instructions.

While the piece is still mostly flexible, mold the petals upward to create the 3D effect. You may wish to apply a few drops of a crystal lacquer to the back of these flowers since the back is quiet dull.

I made two more altered tins, one is for a mini album swap (its a bonus) and one is for my sister in law. I hope they will enjoy all the goodies I’m including in their respective boxes.

Thank you so much for the emails regarding Craig. He seems to be settled for now, but really needs to take a long hard look at his life and grow up. He is 22 years old now and there has come the time when Mom loves him, but his decisions are his alone to make. Hopefully I will be back on the posting of projects for my various design teams in the next few weeks.

I found the floor of the craft room yesterday, I’m so thankful for that, the house is coming back together, now to get the carpet cleaning people in to take care of that task.
