An apology and a new super easy box templates *tutorial*
Hello Everyone, I hope you are having a relaxing Sunday! My dear hubby is finally home after being gone most of the last two weeks. It is so good to have him home. I’m already getting a little spoiled! He made me breakfast and is taking me out tonight to one of my favorite places to eat dinner tonight! How sweet is that! I will add the pink box to the blog candy!
Here is a picture of a small box that is capable of carrying your cell phone, a small digital camera or even a box of kleenex The box you see here has my cell phone in it.
It is a simple box.
I used an old cereal box to make my template which ultimately turned into the cell phone box.
This post will continue after this message.
I logged on today and went to moderate 3 wonderful comments, and hit the wrong button. If you left those comment(s) please re-leave them and accept my apologies for my fumbling fingers! I can’t believe that I hit the wrong button. No excuses from me, I really didn’t mean to!
Onto the tutorial
There are alot of pictures to this one, but I hope it will help you successfully make your own!
You will need:
1. Scor Pal
2. Paper trimmer
3. Scissors
4. Pen
5. Patterned paper
6. Chip board
Instructions
Cut Chipboard and patterned paper to 11″ X 4″.
Score at 1″ and 2″ from top edge.
Score each side at 3/4″, the bottom flap of the box is scored at 4″ and 5″ and is cut on both sides toward the middle. It is important to use a scrap of chipboard to reinforce the bottom.
Note the scores and cut lines on the template, also note the red liner tape on the box bottom’s score lines. It is really important to reinfoce the bottom with a scrap of chipboard so it will be strudy enough to hold a camera, cell phone or even a GPS unit.
This is the bottom of the box reinforced.
bottom middle picture is the inside flap of the box that I covered with the flip side of the decorative paper I covered the chipboard with. This nicely finishes off the inside of the box that you will see when you open and close the box.
When cutting and scoring the box, I used my score pal and reinforced all the score lines with the bone folder. See the pink side of the box above.
I finished the box off with a scrap of the patterned paper, for a belly band, added ribbon and shrink plastic butterflies. The butterfly stamps are from Starving Artist Stamps. I stamped them onto Shrinky Dink, rough and ready shrink plastic using staz on ink. I then carefully cut them out with a pair of ery sharp scissors, I do alot of these when I’m waiting on laundry and pop them into my toaster oven (only used for crafts, never for food prep). The butterfly and box are detailed with the use of pink stickles. I am using my boxes for my new digital camera and my cell phone. They don’t add much extra weight and are plenty sturdy enough for the abuse of living in my purse! I know, I’m nuts. But, hey life is too short not to have a little fun!
I hope you will try these out for yourself. I think they will be nice gifts, easily ‘themable’ and very easy to make.
Stamp Happy, try not to go too nuts with these!
